Overview

The Worm Drive Limit Switch is a highly reliable safety and control device used in cranes, hoists, and material handling equipment to control motion limits and prevent over-travel. It ensures that crane operations remain safe, precise, and efficient by automatically stopping the motion of the crane at preset points. Known for its robust design and accurate performance, it is ideal for heavy-duty industrial applications.

Key Features

  • Accurate Limit Control: Provides precise movement limits for cranes and hoists.

  • Enhanced Safety: Prevents over-travel and mechanical damage.

  • Rugged Construction: Built to perform under high load and tough industrial environments.

  • Long Service Life: Worm and wheel mechanism minimizes wear and ensures durability.

  • Easy Maintenance: Simple design allows for quick adjustments and servicing.

How It Works

The Worm Drive Limit Switch operates on a mechanical worm and wheel gear mechanism:

  • The worm shaft is directly connected to the moving part of the crane, such as the drum or gearbox shaft.

  • As the crane moves, the worm gear rotates and drives the wheel gear, which in turn operates a set of electrical contacts.

  • When the crane or hoist reaches a specific position or travel limit, these contacts open or close the electrical circuit, cutting off the motor power and stopping motion immediately.

This mechanism ensures precise limit control with smooth operation and minimal wear, even under continuous industrial usage.
